July 2020

We are just about caught up on the highlights of 2020 so far. The photos are coming from the whole family now. I replaced the camera on my phone and I just received a new camera for Varsha’s phone so we will have lots more nice pictures.

July started with Cat’s birthday. We had a lovely mad hatter’s birthday tea party together.

Hugo and his dad Stephen came to visit from Brisbane. They were the first visitors we had had from far away for a long time. We made yummy gluten free pizzas for lunch.

Maya Thiango turned 16 and there was a masked ball for her birthday. It was market day too. Varsha made a blueberry bread beetle.

John continued on his tank stand project.

Laxmi has been sleeping in her cubby house.

We have been eating more home grown produce: mustard green sauerkraut, turnip and pumpkin soup and John’s homemade sourdough.

Varsha has written out a paper and dice game game story to play with their friends. This is the cover they made for their game kit, a box with dice and pencils.

Laxmi has been enjoying her new Ohuhu markers.

Cosmo had a Zelda Breath of the Wild party that we all dressed up for.

John made some more biochar.

Varsha painted a fish on their shirt with bleach and made a clay fish pendant. The fish was made of clay from our garden and fired in a campfire.

We went camping at Wonga beach. It was a homeschooler’s camp but only a few of us went.

July is really citrus season. A friend brought us a box of cumquats. We made a cumpquat upside down cake. It was delicious!

Picking mandarins.

Varsha made a basket from fibres in the garden.

We made vegetable tempura. Varsha loved the tempura four box so much they had to make a painting of it.

Varsha and Maya Thiango found a baby bird when we were cleaning up at Geraghty Park Hall. It was peeping and when Varsha peeped back it came towards them. We took it to a wildlife carer who said it was a baby bar shouldered dove.

It has been so cold we are happy for a little bit of sunshine to warm our toes in!

John has joined the local fire brigade.

Varsha wove sticks in the new grape arbor.
