The Sugar City Swing Dance Festival was a enormous day. Workshops started at 9.30 in Cairns and went all day. We stopped for a break and had some food at the Esplanade in the evening. Then the Bomb Shelter Boogie dance went on into the night. The Sydney Swing Cats impressed us all.

Varsha has been doing some more exploring embroidery.

Varsha altered a skirt using the sewing machine and is very happy with the result.

Varsha and Thiango had fun swapping clothes and pretending to be each other.

We had a full day rehearsing 10 Nights Dreams for Wallaby Creek. Everyone is looking forward to going there.

Varsha and Laxmi have been revisiting a favourite old game, Broken Age and Laxmi has been watching Superhero Girls.

The piano tuner came. It was really interesting to see what he did and look at the inside of the piano.

Varsha has been doing more drawing. She made hair and a hat for one of the dolls she has repainted. She also finished painting a box she is making to store doll’s clothes in.

Grandma sent a parcel of doilies for Varsha. She is going to make them into a curtain for her room.

We research lots of things like how to identify cardamom after we were given some at the markets this month. We also looked up Zoot suits and the historical significance of suits like that.

Music classes continue and we are working on an alien themed performance with music for the Variety Night.

We went to the painting activity with the Tablelands Homeschoolers in Yungaburra. Laxmi loved painting with a drill. There was a big Pokémon card swap too.

Dakoda came for a play and she and Laxmi spent all day in the tree house.

Laxmi has been really enjoying her maths and brain training and learning Japanese and Danish.

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. Laxmi found a recipe for avocado potato salad we made together.

Grandpa fixed the gramophone and we have been listening to the old music.

Laxmi counted up all the change Grandpa gave her.

We went to the Tablelands Homeschoolers felting rocks activity in Atherton.

We went up Babbler Hill with Rupert and Juliana on the full moon evening before the lunar eclipse. Varsha and Laxmi builtsime more on the cairn at the top of the hill.

It was birthday season at Kerrima.

We went to Cat’s 1950’s Sophia Loren dinner party, Thiango’s tropical picnic at Davies Creek and Cosmo’s Minecraft party!

Laxmi has been enjoying doing things around the house. She washed the car and she’s been washing the dishes and cooking food.

Varsha has been working on her hydra head for the young creatives project.

It’s been cold and very beautiful. Varsha took this lovely photo of the morning light.

Harriet visited for a week and worked on her novel.

I gave two mosaics workshops for the school holiday program in Julatten. Laxmi and Cosmo came along. Varsha and Thiango went to a youth group camp out at Tekira’s place instead. They had a fabulous time.

We went to Cairns for the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair.

Varsha learned how to embroider to make these socks for Lara’s birthday present. She made a beautiful box too. But we got Lara’s birthday day wrong. Varsha worked so hard to get it in the post on time and it arrived one month early!
