We’ve so enjoyed the roses we got from the rose farm on the way home from Lake Eacham last week.

Laxmi and Cosmo and Dakoda had their last session of Eco warriors. They looked at edible native plants and played with the giant chess board afterwards.

Varsha has been working out volumes of cubes and the surface area of all kinds of things using cuisinare rods.

Laxmi has painted an African savanna scene and Varsha has been drawing Japanese and Korean Street Styles.

We had dinner at Kerrima with soup made from pumpkins and potatoes from our garden and ice cream cones with Oreos.

Varsha and Thiango and Tekira went to Smithfield for lunch at the mall, a movie and doughnuts afterwards.

It was really rainy and the next morning the the creeks were right up over the road.

Laxmi and Cosmo and sometimes Varsha and Thiango have been making a small village from cardboard boxes and playing and playing in there.

Laxmi and Cosmo looked at native plants at this week’s eco warriors. We picked up the finished pottery from Norrie as well.

Varsha had a Bowen treatment with Charly in Mareeba this week. She has had a sore back.

Varsha has made some more mobiles to hang in the poinciana in the backyard and has been experimenting with machine embroidery.

We had a nice time at Lake Eacham with the youth group. We went swimming and had a picnic and played chess.

Varsha made a hexaflexagon she learned about on Vi Hart’s maths pattern channel on YouTube.

Laxmi and Varsha had their first rehearsal with YAK YAK for their performance at the Commonwealth Games event in the morning of Laxmi’s birthday.

When they got home they got ready for Laxmi’s pet party. Varsha did face painting. Laxmi and Cosmo were huskies, Varsha was a rainbow lorikeet and Thiango was a unicorn.

We played pin the tail on the husky and the red balloon bird game. We had a dog bone piñata and a husky birthday cake and danced to the Pet Shop Boys.

We have been making more preparations for Laxmi’s Birthday. Laxmi and Varsha made the husky for pin the tail on the husky.

We went to the Mareeba airport and the weather station with the Tablelands Homeschoolers. We loved the little red plane and wanted to go for a ride. It was really hot until it rained in the afternoon.

It rained for a few days and lots of mushrooms have popped up again.

Varsha has started sanding some wood to make a new desk.

We went to Cairns for the Young Creatives session. They are brainstorming ideas for something to go in the Cairns festival parade. They also looked at the exhibitions that are on in the gallery.

We watched the first episode in David Attenborough’s series about the Great Barrier Reef.
