We got up early for Varsha to have her hair trimmed. The hairdresser was so sweet. She was very very careful with Varsha’s hair. Varsha is very happy with the result.

We caught buses to Arashiyama. There were big crowds. It reminded us of Spirited Away again. We went to the Ninomiya Shrine. The nun and potter Rengetsu lived there for a while. Unmarried princesses were trained there too for service in the temples. People make prayers for happy love lives there. They write them on little plaques and hang them up.

We walked along the beautiful bamboo walk with lots of people. There are beautiful parks all around with moss and maples turning pink.

We found a tiny Japanese restaurant by the river and had a delicious lunch.
