Varsha wanted a photo of herself and Laxmi playing the bouncy bouncy game in the morning. Varsha was up early and made taps and water for the sink in the little house room. She also looked up a big beetle in the tropical Queensland wildlife guide.

We went to a sustainability workshop with the Cairns homeschoolers in Kuranda. Aly talked about sea creatures and how they are dying because of plastic in the ocean. She gave us a challenge to get a business to participate in plastic bag free March. She also gave us soap nuts to try in the washing machine instead of powder. Thiango had a hold of Sarah Old’s new baby girl, Summer.

Afterwards we went with mama Cat and Thiango and Cosi and Blue and Mulga for milkshakes and coffees. It was raining a lot so we got some pies for lunch and sat under the shelter outside the butterfly sanctuary. We saw inside the breeding laboratory this visit. They had some big fat Hercules moth caterpillars.

Varsha was really sad because she wanted to spend more time than we had with Thiango. She cheered up a bit when she bought herself a dress she had spotted earlier in a shop near the cafe where we had milkshakes.

Laxmi fell asleep in the car on the way home and Varsha had a quiet night with John playing tap city and go. I went out to an art house meeting in Mareeba and was home in time to watch some Tabitha before we fell asleep.
