We went to the Kashagawa Pottery and all made something on the wheel. It was lots of fun. We all made really different things.
The pottery was near the Kiyumuzadera Temple. There were big crowds here too. Lots of people were wearing kimonos. There was a long walk up a hill.
We stopped to look at a beautiful golden Buddha carved from a pine that was pushed over in the big Tsunami. It was lovely and cool and quiet here.
We had a delicious lunch in a Japanese restaurant. Laxmi wrote a sweet letter.
We saw a machine making Kiyumizudera cookie sheet. We tried one. It was still hot with a chocolate filling inside.
Kiyumizudera Temple was amazing. There was a special room under the temple. It was completely dark. You walked along holding a rope of big wooden beads like a giant mala. Right under the temple was a rock with a Sanskrit symbol for the goddess lit up. You could make a wish. The darkness represents a journey back into the womb.
